CALLED FROM DEATH | 03.13.22

Yerrr!!! What’s goodie Joy Way Church! We are back here again sharing the things that go down on Sundays at 58 Studios. In this sermon from our series titled "John: The Story of The Promised Messiah" Pastor David walked us through John 11 and shared with us the life-altering implications of what it means for Jesus to be the Resurrection and the Life.

         1.
Reveals Truth

  • She believes that at the end of time, God will raise his people from the dead. in the coming of THE Messiah, the dead will be raised.

  • To acknowledge the death that has occurred in his world. While death exists, Jesus IS the resurrection. It is not just an event that occurs at the end of time.

  • “And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3)

    2. Reveals His Heart

  • Jesus’ disposition is love.

  • Jesus weeps at losing his friend, the cosmic weight of sin, and the lostness and unbelief of his people.

  • Jesus is deeply moved!

    3. Reveals His Power

  • Jesus Calls Him out and it is effective!

  • He takes the curse of death upon himself, and he gives life to Lazarus.

  • Through Jesus, there is no need to fear death. He has conquered the dominion of death. Because of Jesus, there is no more separation and no more loss.

    This Weeks Heat:

  • God being both the resurrection and the life gives us the assurance to say:

  • “When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:54-57)

Take Action this Week and Beyond:

  • Do not measure God’s love for you by how much health, wealth, and comfort you have. Measure God’s love for you by how much He has revealed Himself to you!

  • Receive the resurrection and the life daily through the Word, Sacrament, and Community.

  • Labor in the Lord; Move the stone for others and unwrap their graveclothes the same way they did for Lazarus.
