Now Go & Do It | 03.20.22
YerRR!!!! What’s goodie Joy Way Church! We are back at it again sharing the things that go down on Sundays at 58 studios. In this sermon from our series titled “John: The Story of The Promised Messiah” Pastor Henry walked us through John 13 and showed us the significance of Jesus washing the disciples feet!
1. Jesus uses this as a teachable moment.
Think about it, they only wore sandals.
The disciple’s feet were DIRTY!
Back then it was customary for a basin of water to be provided so that guests could wash their own feet when they came in.
The act of cleaning feet was considered so lowly that it was only reserved for Gentile slaves. Wow! But Jesus did it.
2. Jesus’ act of washing feet symbolizes so much more.
This is not just a lesson in humble service.
Jesus is doing something that symbolizes His greater act of sacrifice on the cross!
3. Serving is a type of death to self.
Being a disciple requires much more.
THIS WEEKS HEAT:
“Jesus served with His life, will we?”
“The Cost of Discipleship is Great.”
“Be loving and kind despite receiving hate and evil.”
“You know what He said, now go and do it.”
